I have long thought that the whole concept of a utopia is evil, in terms of what helps to create the best functioning sort of human society. One of the big errors that progressives make is this belief in a utopia, that if only the right people implemented the right policies, life would be perfect. Never going to happen.
And the attempt to do so causes immense harm.
The yearning after utopia is a human emotion. We all do it to some extent. But it's an irrational emotion which, if you give in to it, leads to horrible things. Like the hundreds of millions of people that have been killed by communists/socialists. The whole underpinnings of communism is based on a refusal to accept human nature and the insistence that it's possible to create a utopia, a "heaven on earth".
